BLOG 4: The Queen´s Gambit.

The last week I was feeling very tired, I had finished my works for college and I needed a break. So I lay in bed, I turned on the TV and I realized that Netflix had released the new series in which Anya Taylor Joy acts, a friend saw it and recommended it to me and she told me that I would like it a lot. In my rest, I started to watch it and I loved it. The series is called The Queen's Gambit. 

In summary and to avoid spoilers, the mini-series is about the life of a young woman named Beth Harmon, who played and competed in chess championships in the United States during the '60s. You must be wondering; What is interesting about a series that deals with playing chess?? Uh, I invite you to watch the series to draw your own conclusions. 

I'm in chapter 5 and until now, I liked it a lot. I want to mention a couple of elements, spoiler-free ;). First of all, the art direction is beautiful, the color palette, the costumes, and the production designer are very beautiful, sometimes it is a little plastic but in this case, it works very well. Second, I love how the tension is maintained during the games, where the focus is not on the chessboard, but the actors maintain it through their expressions and the looks between them, transmitting all those nerves. 

The Queen's Gambit shows us that chess is not just a game, I have played two times in my life and I'm not a chess fan, but the series makes you empathize a lot with the passion of the characters, you live with them their emotion. I loved how the series works on the beauty and intensity of chess.
